The Bean Bag Toss
Materials Needed: 3 bean bags
Forming a stairway-shaped row, place one beanbag 10 feet away from your starting point where the student will stand.
Place the next beanbag to the right, 20 feet away from the starting point.
The 3rd beanbag is placed to the right, about 35-40 feet away from the starting point.
Tip: The distance can be changed according to your room size and the age of the student.
Have each student stand at the starting point; look directly at the 1st beanbag & say, "My name is ________________." (use full name), & "The land that I want to travel to is ______________________."
Instruct him to repeat his script to the 2nd beanbag.
Finally, have him follow-through, & repeat his script to the 3rd beanbag.
Coaching tip: If he is speaking at the same volume to each beanbag, ask him if a person were standing where the beanbag sits, would he need to increase the volume or project his voice further.
After all students have participated, explain to them that when they are acting in a play, they need to make sure that not only the front rows, middle rows are able to hear, but most importantly, the back row too.
