NAME GAMES

See Fun with Names

Exercise #1  See how many names you can come up with that would fit in the different Fun with Names categories.  You can also play this game in a group or with a partner - get creative!

Exercise #2  Put Ethnic names in a bag, & take turns pronouncing them with proper accents & flair!

Exercise #3  Use Game #2, except add improvisational skit relating to country of origin.

Exercise #4  Use Game #3, except have more than one person choose from the bag, thus perpetuating & generating great multicultural relations.

Exercise #5  This spontaneous exercise is commonly found on the school yard.
Examples:

A - My name is Alice, & my husband's name is Al.  We come from Alabama, & we sell apples.

B - My name is Betty, & my husband's name is Bill.  We come from the Bronx, & we sell butter.

C - My name is Cynthia, & my husband's name is Carl.  We come from Connecticut, & we sell carrots.

You continue with your turn, going through the alphabet, as long as you can come up with the necessary words to complete each group of phrases within the timeframe of the rhythm of the game.

Tip:  Make the game a little more challenging by adding a bouncing ball to keep the rhythm.  If you fail to come up with the right alphabetical word as the ball hits the pavement, then it becomes the next person's turn.  The underlined words below show you when the ball needs to hit the ground.

D - My name is Donny & my wife's name is Daphne.  We come from Delaware, & we sell dingbats.
